Workshops
Peace & Protest: Songwriting Lab is a guided community songwriting workshop in Kingston, NY rooted in the enduring power of protest music, peace songs, and collective creative expression. Inspired by civil rights anthems, songs of resistance, and contemporary music shaped by visibility and social change, this workshop invites participants to explore how lyrics, melody, rhythm, and collaboration can give shape to ideas, experiences, and shared hopes. This workshop honors that tradition by creating space for music-making, reflection, and connection through songwriting.
Presented by Revival Jam in partnership with the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center, this Hudson Valley workshop offers an open and welcoming space for community members to write, collaborate, and perform original songs inspired by peace, love, protest, identity, and collective voice. Through guided prompts and accessible music-making tools, participants will engage with examples of protest music, explore lyric writing and song development, and collaborate on original songs in a supportive community setting. No prior songwriting or music-making experience is necessary. All identities, skill levels, and instruments are welcome.
